Crash Data

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0
Build ID: 20110811165603

Steps to reproduce:

Install Firefox 6, start it.

See bug report ID: 0fe691f7-7dc0-4b1e-b9cd-5256b2110822

I've found, I believe, that qipcal.dll belongs to WebSense Content Filtering software (corporate sponsored spyware/monitoring software)

Firefox 3.6 branch still works fine, so something in the 5.x/6.x branch is not happy with whatever it is this library is hooking into.

Unfortunately I can't file a bug with WebSense as I'm not one of their customers.

¡Hola Wayne!

I'm reopening this per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1098342 that has two of these or very similar crashes.

There are 482 crashes in the past month per https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/list?product=Firefox&range_unit=days&range_value=28&signature=qipcap.dll%400x9e36#tab-sigsummary

What's a good path forward for this bug?

¡Gracias!

¡Hola!

Just wanted to point out, there's a SuMo article about this over at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websense-startup-crashes-firefox

There are also questions being actively asked in the SuMo forum about these crashes like https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1152139

670 crashes (586 in Release and 42 in Developer) in the past week at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/signature/?product=Firefox&signature=qipcap.dll%400x31100

¡Gracias!
Alex

There are 954 crashes in release version 51.0.1.
Too late for firefox 52, mass-wontfix.
This should no longer be reproducible with the latest versions of WebSense, which switched to WebExtension.
