Even that mozillamessaging.com has been retired, the release notes for 3.1.x releases still links there. I've found that while new release notes documents being uploaded to the server, the download button still links to an older version. Steps to reproduce: Enter the release notes for recent 3.1.x releases and watch the download button. http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.1.13/releasenotes/ http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.1.12/releasenotes/

Sancus: could we just remove the download button from those pages, or something else?

all mozillamessaging.com urls now redirect to mozilla.org, so this no longer seems relevant.
