User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20110902 Firefox/6.0.2 SeaMonkey/2.3.3
Build ID: 20110902180055

Steps to reproduce:

I can be reading emails, or browsing in a forum, reading paper on line, anything I do while Sea Monkey is in use, I get a spinning circle instead of cursor, can't scroll up or down, can't close out window, episode can last as short as 30 seconds or as long as 5 minutes. In fact it happened while filing out this form

Actual results:

screen gets a white washed look, can't scroll up or down, can't close out window can't do anything

Expected results:

Nothing should have happened. Just reading an email or reading a post in a forum, it happens with out warning.
Does it happens in Safe Mode? ("Help → Restart with Add-ons Disabled" in a running SeaMonkey, or "seamonkey -safe-mode" without the quotes in cmd.exe while SeaMonkey is not running)

Do you have many mail servers, news servers and/or RSS feeds defined? Checking then less often might (but not necessarily) alleviate the problem. Or newsgroups with many saved read posts? Then setting a retention period might help. Also regular compacting of mail & news folders, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders

Possible dupe? of bug 539194 (MailNews Core::Networking:NNTP) "MailNews reported as high CPU (100% for many seconds) caused by having news downloaded without bounds, i.e. no purging."

This happens to me, if I use portable SeaMonkey on a network drive.

According to procmon, during those freezes, SeaMonkey seems to try to access places.sqlite on the network.

places.sqlite contains your history and bookmarks.
My email is downloaded from Road Runner, I read my local paper on line, not a newserver. I am not using the portable Sea Monkey on a network drive. My computer is hooked directly to cable modem, all other computers in house access the cable modem via router that is hooked directly to my computer. Network is our home network,
access is limited to computers in house, no outside users. The spinning circle happen s when using with add ons. Using with out , I get bombarded with all kinds of pop up adds. I prefer to surf with out that trouble.
Is this still reproducible with latest SeaMonkey versions?
