Steps to reproduce:

Steps to reproduce :

1. Open nightly version 10.0a1
2. Go to Nightly menu –> Help -> About Nightly
3. Click on “Apply Update” button (if Available)

Current window disappears and cursor shows as in progress to update the software and after some time “update failed” window appears.

4. Click OK on this window,  nightly browser restores with the existing session.

(Look at the attached doc screenshots 1, 2 and 3 for above mentioned steps)

4. Again go to Nightly menu –> Help -> About Nightly.

5. Click on “Apply Update” button (if Available)

This time another window “software update” appears with the message update failed.
(See the screenshot 4 for the error)

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5.

This time   “software update” window appears with another message for update failed. (See the screenshot 5 for the error)

7. Click OK on this window.

8. This time Software update “Downloading Nightly” window appears and starts downloading with the progress bar.(See the screenshot 6 for the above step.)

9. Once the download finishes software update window shows the message 
“update Ready to Install” .(See the screenshot 7 for the above step.)

10. Click “Restart Nightly” button on this window again the “Software Update Failed” window appears. (See the screenshot 8 for the error)

11. Click OK on this window. It restores the existing session.


Actual results:

When I click on "Apply Update" it returns different error messages instead of a software update.


Expected results:

When I click on "Apply Update" I am expecting software update.

If you haven't re-installed already please perform the following, attach (using the 'Add an attachment' link above) the following files which can be located with a default install as follows:

for Windows Vista and above type the following in the Start Menu search box and press return.
%LOCALAPPDATA%
Then navigate to \Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\

for Windows prior to Windows Vista type the following in the Start Menu -> run box and press return.
%USERPROFILE%
Then navigate to \Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\

active-update.xml

navigate to the updates subdirectory
last-update.log and backup-update.log

navigate to the 0 subdirectory under updates and if present update.log

Reporter -> Have you been able to get your updates working? The update.log seems to show that firefox.exe was not closed completely when the update was started

I have tested with nightly version 13.0a1. This feature is working fine.When I clicked on "Apply Update" ,nightly version updated with the latest available version.
