The patch in Bug 690134 caused Firefox to only show the splash screen on first-run.  This causes me and I'm sure others to stare at an unusable browser for five seconds after starting Firefox.  At least before I knew something was going on and now I keep thinking the browser froze and/or constantly tap in the URL box to try and get Firefox to do something.

I beleive this change was done to reduce startup times but to me it actually makes me believe the startup is taking longer now because I don't have anything to stare at while Firefox loads.
Sorry, bug 687312 was actually the bug that made this change.
