Laura & John, the newly launched http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/download.html is showing up within the top 10 in search results on Bing and Google. I don't think it's the right entry page we want users searching for "firefox download" to jump into. Screen caps attached. A quick patch would be to "no follow" this page.

I just used Google's URL removal tool. The page will be removed from Google's SERP soon. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=1663637

We still need to discuss with the product owners to get their "OK" and then the website team, because this extends beyond Google's search results.

See this help page: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93710 > To entirely prevent a page's contents from being listed in the Google web index even if > other sites link to it, use a noindex meta tag. As long as Googlebot fetches the page, > it will see the noindex meta tag and prevent that page from showing up in the web index. So the solution here is adding <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> to download.html

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html is still on the search results of GBY :( https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Firefox+download http://www.bing.com/search?q=Firefox+download http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Firefox+download Access to the page has been blocked by http://www.mozilla.org/robots.txt so bots cannot see the noindex meta tag at all. Drop the following line to make the effect of noindex. > Disallow: /*/products/download.html
