My hdd died in my macbook this weekend. It stopped booting osx so I booted a linux rescue disk and ran a short and extended self test on the hdd using smartctl. Both tests failed and I could hear the disk making loud clicking noises of death. I do not have any data that needs to be recovered from it since I do keep backups up to date but there might be sensitive data stored on it such as passwords and keys. I will drop this off with Desktop tomorrow 12/19. Serial: W88486SL1GA Asset Tag: 00913

Ran disk utility to verify and repair the drive, both completed within a few minutes without errors. Found errors while running verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions. Wiped hdd and reinstalled Lion since you have a recent backup. Just come by my desk to pick it up.
