Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.24) Gecko/20111103 Firefox/3.6.24
Build ID: 20111103063747

Steps to reproduce:

When I hover the mouse over a link, I want to see the target location of that link.

Actual results:

In 3.6, the target location is displayed in the bottom bar, unadulterated. This is the desired behaviour.
In 8.x, the target location is shortened by replacing a number of characters with an ellipsis, filling only half of my screen real estate (I have enough space to see the full link).

Expected results:

The link target should have been displayed in full, unadulterated. It should be easy to configure, and on by default.

This problem has security implications in so far as it hides potentially important information from the user.
