User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:9.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0
Build ID: 20111212185108

Steps to reproduce:

Firefox 9 beta was running for about two days, with many windows and tabs open. This is my normal usage.

Actual results:

Firefox was hung and my system was sluggish. I looked at Activity Monitor and Firefox had 268 thread (actually it flipped back and forth between 268 and 267 threads). CPU was pegged at 100%. I used Activity Monitor to sample the CPU (attached) and killed Firefox. It has now been running for a few hours and is normal. After I file this I'll restart with the update that just arrived.

Expected results:

Should have been able to use UI, threads should have been about 26 or so (normal), CPU should have been less than 30% (normal for idle is under 10%).
Reporter, do you still see this problem when using a current version in safe mode? http://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
