Need tooltips to persist while the mouse is within the widget that caused them to popup, even when the mouse is moved (neither case happens). This is necessary for features like information windows that are displayed in applications like IM (buddy list tooltips).

They are supposed to go away after a while, however, if the mouse doesn't move... even if you don't leave the widget that popped up the tooltip.

marking 4xp, as Navigator 4.x's tooltips stay around until you move the mouse. at least on linux. This blocks bugscape bug 4206.

adding a patch that does both: - tooltip doesn't disappear until mouse leaves content node which launched tip - if popup has an attribute called |noautohide| set to |true|, it won't autohide

how can this be fixed, we don't have tooltips at all for windoze yet? BTW, the lack of tooltips is a major drawback to the current state of mozilla :(

Clarification: I am talking about tooltips for message header subject lines and bookmarks in the sidebar that are only partially visible because the text is longer than the display collumn.

Given your comments on bug 32157 '[feature] title tips (tooltips for cropped texts)', then you know that this bug was not about doing work related to that feature.

Persistent tooltips should apply to *all* tooltips. But you're partially correct, I didn't realize you were talking about the tooltips for the icons in the app. Please don't forget to make tooltips persitent for partially visible subject lines and bokmarks - when they are finally implemented.
