Could you please describe how it "breaks" https?  Also, which browser and version are you using?  And, finally, any add-ons in use?

Yeah; maybe I've suppressed warnings or something, because although I see that, Firefox isn't warning me.  IE 9 does, but I still see http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/buttons/MoCo_160x280.png display.  I guess all that's needed is to change the hard-coded HTTPS links?
That's because most Firefox users turn off the mixed warning the first time it appears and never see it again.

Set the pref

security.warn_viewing_mixed

to true

and you'll see the problem.

https://quality.mozilla.org/ has got a nice padlock to go along it's URL now.
