In Bug 661737, the monitor and processors will become bullet proof - they will not fail for any external storage system reason, they will just keep retrying forever.  This means that Nagios, which watches log files for silence, will never detect trouble.  With retry forever, the logs will never fall silent.  We need to come up with a way for Nagios to detect a certain threshold of CRITICAL errors within the logs.  Care will have to be taken to make sure that they can auto reset if the number of CRITICAL errors falls below the threshold.
