User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Build ID: 20120314111819

Steps to reproduce:

Visit Google Maps, enable MapGL as suggested (a WebGL version of the maps).

Running Firefox 11.0 on Linux 3.2.9 and Xorg 1.12.0, all from the latest Archlinux packages.
Hardware is Intel i5-2400 with integrated graphics.

Can I provide more information? Maybe try to reproduce the problem in a debug build and get a trace or something? (I am a developer but not familiar with the Mozilla codebase or debug practices.)

Actual results:

First, as soon as MapGL is enabled, a few cycles of the screen turning off (not just black, off as if no HDMI signal) for ~1 second then on again for ~1 second. During that time the mouse cursor is badly responsive. It seems to move at ~3 frames per second.

Closing the tab during that time *may* work if I’m quick enough. The system and Firefox get back to a stable state.

Otherwise, either a GNOME crash (The whole session ends and restarts with the "something bad happened ..." message.) or a Xorg freeze (still image on the screen, keyboard and mouse completely unresponsive; I have to cut the power and restart the computer.)

Expected results:

Either display the map correctly (even if it’s slow) or fail with a "WebGL is not supported" message. Or anything but *crash the whole computer*.
