User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Build ID: 20120312181643

Steps to reproduce:

On MacOSX, Firefox with "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
1. Open Firefox.
2. Open some websites on some tabs on this Firefox window.
3. Close this window using the top left button, Firefox is still open but no window is visible.
4. Quit Firefox (using the menu or Cmd+Q)
5. Reopen Firefox

Actual results:

A new window opens with an empty tab.

This behaviour is normal in MacOSX as it is how the system handle applications. For somebody used to using Firefox on Windows or Linux, it is very confusing.

Expected results:

I would like to get the last window closed with all tabs instead of a new window with an empty tab.

Is there a way to change this behaviour such as the pref browser.sessionstore.allow_empty_session described in bug 382006, or an option that quit Firefox with the last windows?

Maybe an extension would do the trick?

PS: I would have liked to post this as a feature request but the 250 character limit was too short.

Bug 663661 seems to point to this being a WONTFIX
It may be a WONTFIX as there is nothing to fix. I'm just suggesting that a preference (such as the one presented in the bug 382006) be added to Firefox.

When I was looking for a way to do what I wanted, I found lots of people complaining about that behaviour and wanted to have their last window back ! For example my girlfriend, which work usually with a Windows PC, is always complaining that my Firefox is "broken", as it seems to never remember her tabs.

The first comment on bug 382006 seems to say that this exact preference that I suggest was the default in may 2007 ("Currently we always restore the last closed window, even if it was closed before hitting Cmd+Q.").

I personally think that such preference is better. I would love to bring this back (even with an extension)?

Thank you.

This is the intended behavior since you first close the window and not the browser.
I know that this is the expected behaviour, I just would love to have the choice... never mind...

Since this is expected behaviour this is not a bug. However, I recognize that strassh would like the option -- moving this to enhancement requests.

Hi,
Even though it's 8 years old and probably not a bug, I think it's a very wanted feature.
I want to be able to click X on all the open windows, relaunch firefox and get all my windows right back (without clicking "Quit")
