User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Build ID: 20120312181643

Steps to reproduce:

I have several printers (colour laser, black-and-white laser, two different PDF "printers"). Windows default is the colour laser printer. Standard behaviour for all Windows applications is to remember the last-used pribnter only within the current session. Every new session starts with the Windows default printer as the application's default printer.

As of Firefox 11 (or meybe 10, I am not quite sure), Firefox remembers the last-used printer even over the session end. This is very irritating as one is waiting in vain for a print to appear when FF is trying to make a PDF because yesterday I happened te end the prvious session with making a PDF.

Actual results:

Firefox remembers the last-used printer even after the current session is closed.

Expected results:

Upon closing a session, the printer selection should be reset to default (= the default Windows printer).
Same problem with the paper orientation. If the last prnt action in the previous session used landscape orientation, then the new session wil also default to landscape. Apparently all printer setting are upon closig the session. This is compeltely contrary to what one expects on the basis of standard Windows behaviour.
Summary: Firefox 11 remembers last-used printer even beyond session end → Firefox 11 remembers last-used printer after restart

i guess this an intended behavior based on bug 83750
Component: Untriaged → Printing: Setup
Product: Firefox → Core
(1) The reference to bug 83750 is pretty useless, ass the links only says the bug is closed and gives no information whatsoever on the actual bug.

(2) Intended behaviour or not -- it is pretty annoying, as it is contrary to what one expects in Windows. Maybe Linux is different at this, and if so, it would be much better if it became a configuration setting the user can change ("Remember last printer selected?" with a "yes"/"no" choice. And similarly, "Remember last paper orientation used?", also with a "yes"/"no" choice.)
Severity: normal → S3
