Hey Tara,

We need two 2x3 foam core mounted posters for the SFIFF. We need these by April 6 (sorry!)

I'm asking the SFIFF right now where they will be placed at the festival, but we may be able to do something fun like a welcome message. As such, I think we'll need copy.

Design wise, I think we can use the curtains as a background, to keep things consistent with other Flicks materials. We'd also like to add partner logos to be bottom of these posters (I will provide these)

Let me know if you have any questions and thanks! I'll update as soon as I find out about the placement of the poster so we can get moving on copy.

Thanks!
C
Okay, just heard back. This is where we can place them:

"Mozilla Firefox will be acknowledged, via corporate signage (two(2), 2’x3’ signs, mounted on foamcore & produced by Mozilla Firefox and provided to SFFS) to be displayed at Big Night events at the Castro Theatre and at the Firefox Flicks Awards venue on the night of the event."

Any ideas on how we can make these posters a little more interesting than a corporate logos? We'd like to drive awareness of the contest and acknowledge that we're a SFIFF partner.

Thanks Chelsea. Rhonda, can you knock these out for us? please :)

Chelsea, you need files delivered by April 6th, correct?

Hi Guys--
Sure. Chelsea it would be good to keep them uniform--Im thinking we feature the copy prominently and put the logos across the bottom smaller.
Let me know when copy is ready to go.
:)

Tara,

No, the posters need to be delivered for the 6th. I'm not sure how quickly places in SF can turn things like this around (or how we'll get them mounted, since I'm 3000km away), but I think the 4th.
Rhonda,

I believe Matej is working on the copy today. I'm just waiting for one more logo from Adobe.

Cheers,
C

I see, okay. Well, I'm not sure who is managing that or coordinating with a vendor... but I wouldn't be able to tell you that either :) It really depends on various factors. So, I'll mark this as 4th, but with added urgency and friendly push to Rhonda to knock it out asap. Then you guys might just have to work with your chosen vendor to place a rush on this.

I guess I'm coordinating with the vendor... but I don't have any local vendors, so if there's anyone you've worked with before that you liked, please let me know.
Hey guys--
This should be no problem to turn around right away as long as there arent any major design changes (I'm assuming we'll want to stick to the current design for the posters for consistency in any case).
As soon as Matej has the copy ready, post it here along with the last logo (they need to be Illustrator files BTW), and I'll turn it around.
:)

Here are some headline options, including some we've used before and some new ones that will speak to a film festival crowd. Copy follows as well.

Chelsea, you could start by pinging Bob Currie at Lahlouh (I'll send you his info via email). He's usually very helpful with last minute print projects...my only concern is that this is such a small order it might not be cost-effective, but he may be able to advise on that.

Alternately, there are are always little local print shops (or Kinko's) but the quality/customer service is more iffy there.
I like Lights! Camera! Awesome! for the headline. It goes with most of the stuff we've been doing and I think its exciting.

We also need to add the BAVC logo and the Adobe logo. (Adobe is donating prizes). I'll ask for the Adobe logo.

Bob Currie did a super quick turn for us on the screening stuff. He's great! But since this is a small job we might be ok with a smaller shop. Ask Melanie or SFIF if they recommend any small shop for printing?

Bob is awesome and is going to do the job for us.

Also, Matej I'm going to hold onto some of those headline alternates and use them for posts on twitter and Facebook. So thanks for that :)

hey guys--
here is a draft of the poster. One thing--some of the logos were JPG which means they are going to show up with a white background. If it is possible to get the logos as EPS, I can get rid of the white box behind them and have them all reverse out of the red curtains (like the Panavision logo) which will look alot better. If that isnt possible, I will have to put a white box around the Panavision logo and make it black to make it look like the others.

Thanks!
--rhonda
I'll try to get EPSes for you today. thanks Rhonda.
Hey Rhonda,

I updated the vidly logo with an EPS.
OK, great, thanks!
If we can get the other two (Adobe and the Film) also that would be ideal.
:)

Looking good, Rhonda. At this point I don't think we need "Mozilla presents" anymore. We haven't been using that as much since the early stuff. That would also let the headline come up in size. Could you also try it colored type like the homepage?
https://firefoxflicks.mozilla.org/

Maybe "Lights! Camera!" could be the darker orange and then "Awesome!" could be in the yellow.

I think we should also make the URL more of a CTA: Enter & vote at firefoxflicks.org

Or do you prefer it clean like that? Chelsea, Kristin, what do you think?

Thanks. Looking good. AGree with Matej. My comment was going to also be lets make the URL more of a CTA.

I am asking for an eps version of the Panavision logo. I've also asked for an eps version of the Bay Area Video Coalition logo.

Hey Rhonda,

Here's the Adobe logo EPS.
Thanks!

Hey guys--
here is the poster with the changes. One note: we are still waiting for the Vidly logo in EPS format, which is why it is still on a white square.

Hey Rhonda,

The Vidly EPS is listed in the attachments at the top of the bug.

Cheers,

Do we have any of the sponsors brand guidelines? Im fairly certain they will have issue with their logos (which are black) on a dark background. Consider creating a solid black footer with the logos in white rather, or even a thick white border around the design, with a thicker footer (think Polaroid images) for the logos and "Firefox Flicks Sponsors" above the logos.

We also might want to consider have the "Lights, Camera, Awesome!" in white if we dont include a white border around the design. From a distance, it will be tough to read the headline as it will just blend in with the red curtain background.
Sorry, Rhonda, for steering you down the wrong path with the colored headline. If we're switching back to white, though, maybe we could put it back on one line? Whatever you think looks best.

Also, the logos are partners, not sponsors, and I don't think we need to repeat the name there, so above that section it should just read "Partners:"

Thanks!
Hey Chelsea--
Yes, the Vidly file itself is saved as an eps in Illustrator but it is actually a image (with a white background) just placed in Illustrator, so I wont be able to take the white background off of it.
I'll just see what I can do with what I have, but if you can get the actual vector image created in Illustrator that would be best, not sure if we are running out of time for that though.

FF Flicks 2' x 3' poster

Way better with the black on the bottom. And I like the headline.

Wondering if we need a reference to Mozilla on here somewhere. Not sure where. Thoughts?
Sorry, I should have checked with you guys before asking Rhonda to remove "Mozilla presents." I feel like it's just an extraneous element at this point, but if you think it's important, let's put it back in. But if we do, please make sure Mozilla have a capital M.

Also, I think it should say "Partners:" above the logos so it's clear what those are. Thanks!

Hey guys--
I added the "mozilla presents" logo and the "Our Partners" above the partner logos. One thing--Matej mentioned that he would have preferred the M in Mozilla Presents to be capitalized, but the logo for "mozilla presents" has always had a lowercase "m"--it is used this way on every other peice of advertising and promotion we have done so far, so Im thinking for consistency we should stick with the current logo?

Attachment #610669 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Our style is to only lowercase Mozilla in the Meta wordmark. Sorry if I didn't catch it in other materials, but we definitely need to have it uppercase here. Thanks.
OK--in that case we'll need Lee Tom (I think it was Lee?) to do another logo that has the capital M and send it over to me.

I dont know what Lee's schedule is like, either that, or if Lee can send me the editable file and the font, I can make the change.
--rhonda
Hey guys--
Any word on this? The deadline is coming up fast! :)

Hey guys--
here it is with the capitalized M. (Thanks Sean!)

Let me know if this is ready to go or if we need to make any additional changes.

I'm going to send these to print in a few hours unless anyone has further changes.

Thanks!

It looks great to me. Thanks.
Kirstin, are you good using these same posters for the Temple event?
Yes, we can use them there.
