Details

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0)
BuildID: 2001032319

Moz 0.8.1 will not connect to sites on the internet when either 'Direct
Connection to the Internet' or correct proxy info entered into the 'Manual
Proxy Config' in Prefs->proxies when connected through the corporate network.

When a HTTP request is sent, Moz attempts to resolve the host but eventually
timesout with the dialog 'The connection was refused when attempting to contact
www.mozilla.org'

Just upgraded to Window 2000 after running 0.7 (backwards) fine over the
network with the 'Direct Connection to the Internet' option selected under
Win98. I will test connection over a modem this evening.

Have installed 0.8 and 0.7 and the same problem is found.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load Mozilla 0.8.1
2. Set Prefs->Advanced->Proxies = 'Direct Connection to the Internet' or
configure a manual proxy.
3. attempt to connect to www.mozilla.org (or any other website).

Actual Results: Moz attempts to resolve the host but after approx. 10 seconds
a dialog is displayed: 'The connection was refused when attempting to contact
www.mozilla.org'

Expected Results: Moz should successfully connect to www.mozilla.org (or any
other website).

when using 'Direct Connection to the Internet' our corporate website (which is
hosted on the same network) connects without any problems. Problems are however
experienced connecting to the corporate website when using a manual proxy
config (which to the best of my knowledge is correct), even when the 'No proxy
for' (i.e. *.moneyfacts.co.uk in this example) option is used.

OS and other details
OS: Window 2000 SP1, Network: NT4.0 SP5.
The OS is a recent clean install and does not contain a load of 'junk'.
Tested Mozilla using modem and dial-up connection through local ISP
(using 'Direct Connectiontion to Internet')- working correctly, problem
described above NOT evident. Could there still be problems with the corporate
network interface?? is it my end?? Nick.
Sounds like a problem with the corporate network...probably running through a
proxy or firewall.. Since its not our end i am going to mark worksforme. I would
check with your local network admin at work to see what they say or grab the
settings from whatever other browser you use.
