It's time to refresh the key promo slots on mozilla.org (including the 3 spaces on the homepage slider and the one in Tabzilla). This bug is for the creation of all those assets...will file another bug for implementation. The content needs include: 1. [mozilla.org] Firefox Beta 2. [mozilla.org] Firefox Flicks winners 3. [mozilla.org] community action 4. [tabzilla] Firefox Beta Open questions: - Grace, is there any particular Beta-related message we should feature here? A particular CTA or value prop beyond the usual "help test the next Firefox, etc"? - Kristin, what general direction do you want for the Firefox Flicks one? We of course won't know the winner while we're creating this, but please let us know what overall message you want to convey. - Mary/David, what community action do you want to feature? The current promo set includes a general get involved promo, but I'd like to try targeting a more specific task if possible. Once we have that info, Matej can start writing so please take a moment and let us know soon. (And on an administrative bugzilla note, I plan on changing this over to a design bug once copy is complete.) Thanks-

One thought would be to promote the Mobile Test Drivers program as an action people could take to get more involved. This is timely and also is appropriate for a wide audience. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Testdrivers_Program

Good suggestion, thanks. Are we sure this one is ready for that level of exposure? My only concern is that sending folks to a wiki page may not really be the right thing to do for a homepage type of audience.

My only concern is that sending folks to a wiki page may not > really be the right thing to do for a homepage type of audience. Do we have stats on how much traffic those promos have been driving? Although the information is on the wiki, my sense is that the MTD program is looking for more than a small handful of people to sign up. So is your the recommendation to have a nice landing page for anything the promo links to? That's fine if it is -- we'll just need to coordinate enough in advance to get something together.

Another thought about a promo for a contribution opportunity is Affiliates. It's set up now as the first step in the Marketing contribution path and also has a nice site to point people to. Longer term, I'd be interested in figuring out how to link to a wider range of contribution activities since so much information is on wikis, Bugzilla and other tools that aren't super friendly looking.

Affiliates seems like a good option. Just to make sure, we're talking about https://affiliates.mozilla.org/en-US/, right? And yes, let's definitely talk about how to spruce up the appropriate landing pages in the medium or longer term. Is it a matter of fleshing out the mozilla.org/contribute page more like we've discussed?

thanks for the reminder. I didn't see the date these are going to run but assuming they run after 5/17 then I'd like the Flicks promo to be focused on "Viewing the winning entries" and it should link to firefoxflicks.org. Let me know if you need more. Thanks.

Affiliates and Flicks should be easy to write up, but still waiting on the messaging for Beta. Also, when is the copy for this due?

Thanks Matej - these look good. Am re-setting this as a design bug and assigning to Ty. Ty, can you tackle these this week? I'm hoping that we can just follow the relatively simple and straightforward style of the current mozilla.org promos, so it should be fairly quick.

+1 love the beta design. Since tabzilla promo is appearing in moz.org/firefox page, im a little worried that it will get overlook with the Firefox logo? I know we dont like using the beta sash, but would we consider it for this since it's appearing in moz.org/firefox and need differentiation from Firefox GA? The copy looks great! Would it be possible to split it into two promos: 1. Get a sneak peak of what's coming in our next version 2. helping us test and contributing to make Firefox even more awesome Two reasons for this request: 1. We want to test messaging. sneak peak vs contribute/helping test 2. This will also help shortened the copy. I think having a shorter and to the point copy would be more effective in the tabzilla promo, given the size of the space.

Hey Grace. A couple of updates: 1) The Tabzilla promo isn't just appearing on mozilla.org/firefox, it's appearing on all the Mozilla sites that use Tabzilla. Right now, for example, it's the Den (go to mozilla.org and click on the tab to check it out). This promo is pretty far away from any of the main page content, so I think it's probably ok. 2) What did you have in mind for message testing? We're not really set up on the mozilla.org homepage for A-B tests, so I'm not sure that this is the best place to do it (although I'm open to ideas - let's discuss).

Grace, did you want to split up the messaging between the two promos? If so, here's what I was thinking: 1. [mozilla.org] Firefox Beta Get a sneak peek at the Firefox of tomorrow. Download Firefox Beta today » 4. [tabzilla] Firefox Beta Download Firefox Beta and help us refine and polish our next version.

Hi Matej, yes splitting the messaging (it would be ideal if we can run 2 rotating in .org & tabzilla) 1. Get a sneak paek: here are some that you've suggested in the past: option 1: Get a sneak peak at the future of Firefox. Try Firefox Beta. option 2: Take a peak at what's coming soon to Firefox. Try Firefox Beta. option 3: Try Firefox Beta and get a sneak peak at what will be in our next version. option 4: Get a sneak peek at the Firefox of tomorrow. Download Firefox Beta today » I like the 2nd option the best. option 1 is my second fav. 2. Help Test and Contribute in making Firefox even more awesome: Some options we've used in the past: Download Firefox Beta, provide feedback and help make our next version even more awesome. Help make our next version even more awesome. Download Firefox Beta and give us feedback today! - This messaging should highlight: Testing/providing = contributing to making firefox awesome/making an impact. It's not just giving feedback as a task but that they are part of a bigger team/efforts/cause Let me know what you think.

Thanks Grace. I can't speak to the possibility of having two different Beta promos in each slot, but they'd have to be written differently if so. Each one has a slightly different structure. John, let me know if that's doable and I can adapt as necessary. Here are my thoughts on copy: 1. I think the version I have in comment 25 is virtually identical to the options you referenced in comment 26. Would like to keep this as is. I like the new version better. 2. I'm good with this copy for the tabzilla promo (but again, if we want this messaging in the main promo slot, it has to be rewritten): Download Firefox Beta, provide feedback and help make our next version even more awesome.
