This is a retroactive bug for looking into bug #749835 and figuring out whether it's fixable.

The py-wikimarkup parser is using the : to split the link into an internal namespace and a title. It's possible we could modify the parser to not split the link if there's nothing to handle that namespace. But then Verdi said that they'll just use hyphens. Grabbing it and marking it as FIXED since the work was done.
