Hello!

It's time to gear up launching the Bengali "Firefox & You" newsletter. :-D

Can we get a "Firefox & You" logo made for the Bengali that says:

Firefox এবং আপনি

If possible, it would be great to get this by: 7/5

Hey Jess--
I posted the image, above. However, there might be issues with it, since I used the font "Rupali", a mac BN font that I downloaded. When I used that same font in the banners, there was issues with the way it looked, so you may want to check with your localizers. 

Tara--the only "Firefox & You" art that I have for the newsletters is the one that uses Meta (see attached). That may be an outdated version, so if so, I will need the PSD of the new version if there is one.

Actually - I just loaded it in and noticed that there's a lot of extra space around the beginning and end of the words. Can you make it so that the words take up the whole space as much as possible? Like the ohter titles? At the very least, the first "F" in Firefox should align flush with the left side of the image. Thanks!

Yes Swarnava, that is what I have heard about the Mac font I am using (Rupali--TT font). We sent the last file to the banner folks from the BN-IN team, and I think they were resolving it on thier end, since I cannot find a solution on my end (all the BN-IN fonts appear wrong when used on a US formatted Mac).

Unless anyone else knows of a solution they can share with me? I have tried using fonts specified by the BN-IN team to no avail.

Hey Jess,

I just checked the attachment and the main (only?) problem that I could see was that the Bengali word অাপনি isn't rendered properly. I'll try something with the PSD in the bug: 714838 - Firefox & Tu Spanish image update  (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=714838).

Also, on a separate note could send me some details about what problems you are facing when using BN-IN fonts on an US formatted Mac? I'm in touch with some of the language maintainers and thus am interested in taking a look at it.

Thanks Sayak! Is it possible to make the "Firefox" a little bigger and have it flush with the left side of the image? 

In the Spanish PSD in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=714838 the text looks like it's 32px tall and the "F" starts right at the left side.

The size looks much better! However, the "Firefox" text looks a little blurry. 

Is there a way you can make the text itself a bigger font rather than resizing the image?  Please let us know if you need a better PSD, or if you need us to send you the font file we used to make the original image.

The Blur is because of the resizing. It would be best if you could provide a better PSD along with the original font file.

Hey Rhonda,  Can you attach the Meta font or send the font file to Sayak directly?

Sayak, once Rhonda sends you this you should be able to use the PSD here:

Alternatively, if that doesn't work, maybe you can help Rhonda figure out how to make the এবং আপনি  part of the title look right on her computer? (For example, is there a certain file or font she needs?)

Sorry you couldnt find that font on my email--might have been buried under the PSD. In any case, I think it looks great, but even though its really close, we should have the "Firefox" in MetaPlus Medium. Here is a link to the font family zipped:

Hey Sayak,

Thanks so much for your hard work on these. I loaded them into the newsletter and the font looks a little different. I had a creative idea: I took a look at your first image and cut/paste the এবং আপনি part of the title into the original "Firefox" part of the logo. Does this look okay? 

If not, can you send me the এবং আপনি text as a size 32 and I'll replace it in this latest version? Maybe the best way is to piece the logo together rather than create it all in one text block.

Hey Jess,

The logo looks good however the এবং অাপনি part looks a bit small. I guess a font size of 28/30 for এবং অাপনি and a font size of 32 for the Firefox part mixes best and looks uniform.

The thing that I was trying to achieve was to align the base and ceiling parts of both the texts together, i.e. on the grid, both the English and the Bengali fonts should have the same height. The easiest to do that would be to make sure that the topmost part of the alphabet f is at a straight line with the top most part of the dependent vowel ি.

I've attached the এবং অাপনি part in size 32 herewith. Maybe you can scale it down a bit and merge it with the Firefox logo.

I think we have a winner! Thank you for the instructions on how best to align the এবং অাপনি part with "Firefox" and for the larger text.

Check out the latest version. I made sure that the top most f is at a straight line with the top of the ি and the bottom parts of the text are all aligned.
