If someone searches on developer-new, the search results are loaded on developer instead. This could be very confusing to users during the "soft launch", when all edits will happen through developer-new.
Yes, this would potentially be a real problem; people could wind up having all kinds of weird issues while editing if they get redirected back to the old site after a search.
