importing mail from Outlook Express temporarily freezes UI. a few seconds later, I can continue on. not sure what's going on here, but when I import from OE the UI temporarily freezes. for me, it's 100% reproducable. I've got very few messages.

Trunk build 2002-02-06-03: WinMe It appears to be working for me. I see a progress bar and it does not appear to freeze. Seth, have you seen this recently?

Marking nsbeta1, in case this can be reproduced.

it might depend on how much OE mail I'm importing, but I can't remember. I think this might also be related to how the import UI freezes on other importing. I think the import thread is not yielding to the UI thread.

I have the same symptoms. I'm running Windows 2000 with Outlook 2000. Using Mozilla 1.2beta, I selected to import my Outlook mail. My .pst file, to give you some idea of the size, is 103 megabytes (3+ years of mail). Now, according to task manager, mozilla (browser and mail both) is "Not Responding". If I look at the mozilla.exe process, however, it occasionally flickers with 1% cpu and memory usage is going up a little bit (4k) at a time. I'm not sure if it's frozen, or if it's actually importing stuff. It definitely looks like the import thread is not yielding. I upped the priority of the process to real time and it’s still only using two percent cpu time.

Same problem on Win2k with outlook 2000, with a folder of 400 MBytes (2 years of mail). Mozilla seem to be using the disk a lot, the progress bar is blocked. What is stupid is that I only want to import one folder from all my folders. The one I want to import is really small in comparison. If only I could select it directly! (filing that in another bug).

Well, could you avoid that by transfering all mail from Outlook to a different (separated) file-database? And take take care, that this is only one in use. Then it try to import all, but there is only one folder to import.
