bhearsum, Application Update already supports this and the Firefox UI doesn't have it because UX decided that it wanted a minimal UI hence why I moved this bug back.

This has become a problem for me, too. The first time I boot up my laptop many mornings is on the train, on my tethered connection. The update download that happens both makes my connection unusable and wastes bandwidth. I know this is generally only a problem for Nightly/Aurora, and for those of us who happen to tether a lot, but it really, really sucks.
