currently the SMTP server for an account is displayed in the main account name/Identities pane. This should be moved to the server settings pane as it is a 'server setting' not an account setting.

But is *is* a per identity setting. There's no reason one identity couldn't use another smtp, in fact there may be plenty of reasons it would. (E.g. a specific smtp may not allow sending with other from-email than the main one.)

(In reply to Magnus Melin from comment #1) > But is *is* a per identity setting. I sort of assumed that was why there was an SMTP entry when I clicked Identities. I note here that even the default account can be set up as an 'identity' There's no reason one identity couldn't > use another smtp, in fact there may be plenty of reasons it would. (E.g. a > specific smtp may not allow sending with other from-email than the main one.) I fail completely to understand what the SMTP entry in the identity has to do with moving the entry on the main pane to server settings. Perhaps I am really slow. But please explain what moving the SMTP entry on the main account pane to server settings has to do with the management of identities. I can only assume that my calling the pane main account name/identity has lead to us talking at crossed purposes.

Well, don't you think it would be confusing to set the smtp server in a different place depending on whether you opened the account main page or the identity dialog for the main page? Everything would look the same except the smtp setting would be missing.
