User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 Build ID: 20120808131812 Steps to reproduce: Create a new profile On the Options --> Privacy page uncheck everything but Accept Cookies (Third party cookies should also be unchecked). Set Keep Until to "ask me every time" Go to your Facebook account and sign in. Accept all cookies. Click on the notifications button. Actual results: No notifications are shown. Expected results: Notifications should be shown. Note that if you change Keep Until to either "they expire" or "I close Firefox" the notification button (and the other buttons that don't) will work. A couple of other notes: This also happens with Fx 14 and happens with Linux (not certain if fix works there) This could be an site issue but I am not certain how to tell. Please see this thread http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2515229 for more information. Ignore the KAV part of the topic since that had nothing to do with it.

Also note that "Ask me every time" causes another problem at Facebook (windows always, sometimes with linux) Whenever I try to post a new message I get redirected to here: http://www.facebook.com/ajax/metacompos ... rTourStart This is a blank page. I can reply to post without a problem. Again, changing Keep Until solves the problem.

"ask" is not supported by Gecko according to bz..... Moving to Firefox:general instead of Core
Component: Untriaged → General

Able to reproduce the issues in comment 0 and comment 1 on Nightly 17.0a1 (2012-08-24) on Win 7 x64, Ubuntu 12.04 and Mac OS X 10.6.8. Marking the bug as NEW.

I solved it in Firefox 16 on Linux (Fedora 17) using: Edit -> Preference -> Privacy: Firefox will: use custom settings for history Accept cookies [Exceptions]: add "facebook.com" without "www" Keep until: ask me everytime So it seems to be a domain issue, no idea if it's facebook at fault or firefox

Ignore the KAV part of the topic since that had nothing to do > with it. I also have this problem. New this week although similar problem occurred several months ago. Note that Resetting Firefox or Disabling Add-Ons does not resolve problem.

Whoa! I tried CHANGING the https://www.facebook.com address to https:/facebook.com. It quickly reverted to https://www.facebook.com and asked me to accept a new cookie, which I did. Now the facebook notifications work just fine. Hooray! Go figure.

The severity field for this bug is relatively low, S3. However, the bug has 3 duplicates.
:mossop, could you consider increasing the bug severity?

The last needinfo from me was triggered in error by recent activity on the bug. I'm clearing the needinfo since this is a very old bug and I don't know if it's still relevant.
