User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 Build ID: 20120713134347 Steps to reproduce: Go to http://games.latimes.com/games/daily-crossword/daily-crossword.aspx and wait for the advertisement to stop loading. Crossword puzzle will then load. Take a look at the puzzle clues in the right-hand side. In Internet Explorer, you can read the clue number and the clue words. However, in Firefox, the text overlaps each other - screenshot is provided. I noticed this a few weeks ago and cannot determine if Firefox or Flash bug. Internet Explorer = 10.0.8400.0 Flash = 11.3.370.178 Firefox Flash = 11.4.402.265 I tried to update to Flash 11.4 on Internet Explorer to compare apples to apples, but it says to use Windows Update, which doesn't list any updates. Actual results: Text is overlapping in the clue area. Expected results: No text overlapping

comparing with IE and the same Flash plugin version is not comparing apples with apples as IE is using a complete different flash player (activeX) and all other browsers are using NPAPI. I can't reproduce the overlapping text with Firefox14 and Flash Version: 11.4.402.265 on my system. Is your Graphic card driver up to date ? Please post the graphic section from about:support (enter as URL in Firefox).
I tried with Flash 11.3, display is fine. Maybe Flash 11.4 and Win 8 issue? Is it possible to make a try on Win 7?
(In reply to Loic from comment #2) > I tried with Flash 11.3, display is fine. > Maybe Flash 11.4 and Win 8 issue? Is it possible to make a try on Win 7? I don't have a dual-boot drive to test on Windows 7 and maybe Windows 8 is the issue.

Can you please disable the hardware acceleration in Firefox and try it again ? (options/advanced/general)
(In reply to Matthias Versen (Matti) from comment #5) > Can you please disable the hardware acceleration in Firefox and try it again > ? > (options/advanced/general) Turning off Hardware Acceleration (HWA) does not help. See screenshot.
Just tried the latest Nightly (18.0a1 [2012-09-04]) but the puzzle won't even appear.

Not reproducing on: Firefox 15 or Nightly with Flash 11.3 Firefox 15 or Nightly with Flash 11.4 Or Chrome with Flash 11.3 or Flash 11.4 Seems likely to be Window 8-related

Are your GPU drivers Win8-compatible? Did you check the website of Nvidia to see if they're offering some Win 8 drivers for your GeForce GTS 450?

(In reply to Loic from comment #11) > Are your GPU drivers Win8-compatible? Did you check the website of Nvidia to > see if they're offering some Win 8 drivers for your GeForce GTS 450? Yes - I just downloaded 306.02 Beta (Release Date 8/27/12), which includes Windows 8 support. Other driver (302.82) was also Windows 8 compatible. The overlay problem is now gone, so I guess it was an NVIDIA Hardware Acceleration bug. I thought I had the latest driver (including Beta), but went to the wrong area of the NVIDIA site.

Should another bug be filed for that / existing bug already exists in Bugzilla database?

The issue seems to be different (no Flash puzzle instead of overlay). I close this current bug as worksforme, feel free to reopen it if needed.
