I've got a copy of 14.0.1 and I'm seeing it pop up a dialog inviting me to upgrade to 15.0.1. But when I do I just get an infinite "connecting to server" status in the install popup. It's happening again and again (I eventually kill the wedged upload), including across restarts of the browser.

I also don't see any way to manually start an update for the browser. There's nothing (for OSX firefox at least) in the menu bars, nor in "about firefox" (the about dialog doesn't provide a way to check for upgrades, nor even lets me know this isn't the most recent firefox).

I can obviously work around this by downloading 15.0.1 from the web or FTP site. I just wanted to file this because there's presumably other users out there that are going to be stuck on the older FF until this is fixed.
We had a few reports in the past about this issue (staled update on connecting).
The update guys need some logfiles, so please don't use the workaround at the moment :-)

Could you please attach Contents/MacOS/active-update.xml from inside the .app, thanks!
I don't see active-update.xml right now--but it's not trying to update now. I'll post if/when it tried to update again. (Is there any way to force that anymore?)
Hmm, I restarted Firefox, and it gave me the update prompt again, and I said yes and it's hung again, but I don't see active-update.xml in Contents/MacOS or anywhere else in the app's directory. I also looked through the list of files the app has open (attached) but don't see anything obvious.

It's still hung and I'll keep it that way for now. Anything else you want me to try?
The updater itself isn't even running. Can you try updating again in safe mode?
> Can you try updating again in safe mode?

Same thing--update popup hangs, no active-update.xml.

Let me know if you want me to build and run a debug version and attach a debugger to it, etc. I could also try with a fresh profile. (I've got backups of both my Firefox.app and profile. I'm also holding off on an OSX 10.8.1 -> 10.8.2 update for now)

Note: I migrated my Firefox and profile from a 10.6.8 box about 3 weeks ago using Migration Assistant. Can we think of any reasons a profile lifted from 10.6 might get stuck?

No but it is relatively simple to test with a new profile to see if something there is causing it
New clean profile shows same hang, still no active-update.xml. Same same.

Want me to download a fresh version of 14.0.1 and see what happens? Anything else?

Sorry for not figuring this out and with how old this is I'm going to resolve it as incomplete.
