Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0
Build ID: 20121002073616

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to download a big file to a pendrive.

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.6.2/win/x86/LibO_3.6.2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi

Actual results:

A short time after I chose location of the file, Fx hang for a second or two. Then it started to download the file, like it usually does but with a little twist. Firefox was regularly hanging for a half a second, making surfing on the web uncomfortable. After the download was done, everything went back to normal. Magic.

Expected results:

It should've download the file without any hiccups.
Is it possible that download speed was higher as the write speed of your pendrive ?
Component: Untriaged → File Handling
Product: Firefox → Core
My pendrive write speed is about 6 MB/s and download speed is 24 Mbps (about 3 MB/s) so that's not the case.
I should also add that the same thing happens when I download files directly to Nokia 5130 (SD card).
As for Fx 20, bug still occurs.
Version: 16 Branch → 20 Branch
Product: Core → Firefox
Version: 20 Branch → unspecified
Severity: normal → S3
