Visit the cnet mobile site on the browser (see url). tap the dropdown, which covers the whole screen. At this point, there's no way to pan the rest of the web content without this overlay getting in the way. See screencast: http://youtu.be/AKNNjRalopo Repro: 1) otoro build, 10-03-2012, ** gaia: a3339652136fde9e5207e1bc1263a410c84f55fc ** gecko: aecce9686d0b0e6ec25bb31e837eadace251a951 2) visit url and pan the site 3) verify the dropdown overlay gets in the way from panning. Expected: - dismiss the dropdown and pan the content ActuaL: - can't pan content

I think that's the system app's UI for <select> inputs, not sure who worked on that...

I can still reproduce this - 10-11-2012 unagi and otoro builds. For STR, make sure you tap the dropdown options first to expand the menu. once its opened, panning the page will get into the overlay state.

I think i missed calling out an important STR. when the overlay appears with the dropdown list, hit "Cancel" button on the left. The overlay will disappear and return you to the mobile content. At that point, pan and you'll see the dropdownlist overlay keep reappearing. ALternately, if you tap the "OK" button on the right, the page restores correctly. So it's tapping "Cancel" fro the dropdown list that's reproducible.

Please see STR in Comment 5, not comment 0. I suspect from the video this is an interaction between focus and the select element. Tony, if you tap elsewhere in the page first, does this change the outcome?

Tapping elsewhere in the scroll element will select the items shown in the list. you still need to hit Cancel or OK to close the overlay, which depending on which button you press, gets you back into the scroll element or not.
