After implementing the new sandstone design on SUMO, we got various reports about legibility issues that can be traced back to low contrast.

In general text over the non-white backgrounds are difficult to read.

The sumo navigation bar (Products & Services, Help Articles, etc.) and article listing pages (e.g. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/get-started ) are the two main areas left to fix.

Please give them white backgrounds. Bram has created mockups (attached).
See bug 792866 for more details. This is a followup.

For the nav, I'll keep the grain background but make the background color white.

That’s correct. Thanks, Ricky.
