String extraction was done by mkelly today and merged into verbatim by Milos, I am filing per locale bugs that will block this bug and post announcement for our localizers.

Is there any chance to get some context notes regarding the ambiguity of "mobilized"? Preferably for all the instances of the term.

I can see how that might be tricky. In English, "get mobilized" sounds like a rallying cry or a way to get people motivated. It's like saying, "stand up and get together for change or for something bigger and better." Of course, in English, it also comes from the same root as mobile, so it works nicely for this campaign.

I'd recommend trying to come up with something that either rallies people or plays with the word "mobile" in your language. Either one can work, as long as it has a strong feeling and message to it. Since it will likely be impossible to come up with the same wordplay, choose what you think sounds better and will resonate more with users where you are.

Also, try to think of the term "Get mobilized" on its own as well as part of a sentence, since it may appear that way in some instances.

I hope that helps, but let me know if there are any specific uses I didn't cover.

I'm curious to see how some of the big locales will deal with this.
"The sponsor of the contest is the Mozilla Corporation." looks a little bit weird to me, isn't Mozilla the host or organizer?

Strings have been marked fixed in https://github.com/mozilla/firefox-flicks/commit/cdf97c20fac97853e385832cc8d3e0414afb3a3c , but we won't be able to get them into verbatim until Monday when Milos gets online.

Could you please explain the following string 105 in more detail?

"Early Entry Awards - $1,000 awarded to the best flicks submitted before our film festival sponsorships. The top 3 early entry submission flicks from each film festival that Firefox sponsors are automatically included in the final round that will be submitted to and judged by our celebrity panel."

What does it mean "submitted before our film festival sponsorships"? What is the link between film festivals and the deadline for the Early Entry Awards?

Also I was wondering: in strings stating the dates and hours of the contest opening and ending, can we replace the GMT time with the corresponding timezone in our country?

We're going to be sponsoring a number of film festivals that happen during Firefox Flicks. At each one of those, we'll be giving out the Early Entry Awards. Each one of those will have it's own deadline, so you have to get your video in by then to qualify for that Early Entry Award.

I can't make the call, but last year we had issues where daylight savings time wasn't considered for the contest timing. IMO this year we should stick with GMT in all locales to avoid potential human error in making sure the times are correct in all locales.
Not my call either, but +1 to that based on last year's experience. 

Also, since locales show up by browser language and not by geo-location it seems like there's too much opportunity for confusion.
The Firefox Flicks website makes heavy use of the Vollkorn font family, which lacks support for some characters used in Slovenian language (č, š, ž). Polish and supposedly other languages also have this problem.

I see that Google Webfonts page doesn't offer any extended font sets for the Vollkorn font family.

Can we replace the font? I know it's late, but it looks awful:

Correct. We've got a fix in place for Polish (awaiting merge at the moment, https://github.com/mozilla/firefox-flicks/pull/126) and we'll need to identify other locales that need the switch as well. Czech and Russian most likely, any others?
My 2 cents about time zones. We see:
"You can submit your flick to be eligible for our Early Entry Awards (above), but the deadline to submit your film to be eligible for the People's Choice Award and Regional Awards is July 31, 2013, at 11:59PM PST (7:59AM GMT).", but in the GMT zone will be August 1, 2013.
Craig: please add Slovenian (sl) to that list.
I think the string "Our sponsors" at the bottom of the page is not localizable.

Thank you, that's what I needed to know.
Also I understand the potential for confusion regarding the time zone and why it's safer sticking to GMT.

Sorry if it's an obvious question, but the locales on the production site has been down for several days: is that because of a technical problem or are we waiting for all the strings to be uploaded/layout adjustment before putting the locales back on line?

Also, Persona's Sign In button and string "See what last year's winners have to say about their experience and use the materials below to help you make your flick." in the ABOUT section are not localizable.
