User Agent: Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; U; ru) Presto/2.10.289 Version/12.02

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add new IMAP account. I use bk.ru (mail.ru) server.
2. In settings, allow to load all and whole messages to the local DB.
3. I definitely closed app before all messages were loaded.
4. After application restart, it continues loading.
5. Prev. step can be repeated many times, just launch app, use it to check mail, may be send one, close app. Loading progresses at each launch.
6. At some moment (I can't define circumstances) situation on screenshot appeared. Today I catched it after creating new folder in the mailbox through web interface.

Actual results:

Thunderbird starts reloading messages it loaded at a whole before. Seems it reloads all messages in folders. Monitor (work dispatcher? window with task progress bars) shows records like:

Updating folder MyFolder
Loading message 143 of 20

And progress bar shows some unrelated progress, from wery small to full.
See screenshot attached. I marked problems with red frames.

Reloading messages, app consumes LOTS of traffic.

Expected results:

* Thunderbird should not reload messages it already loaded.
* It would be good if thunderbird warns user if it wants to reload too many messages. For example, I have strict traffic limits at work and experienced some problems from this bug.
* Task monitor should display correct info about folder update progress.

is this a gmail account?

I've removed "monitor [activity manager] shows incorrect info" because this is already reported in another bug.
Summary: IMAP box reloads already loaded messages, monitor shows incorrect info → IMAP box reloads already loaded messages

Possibly bug 815730?

No, this is mail.ru account (russian local mail service). Also, I use Thunderbird 17 _portable_, but not found where to mark this fact.

Seems to be similar, but its description misleads by declaring version 16.

Please state it in bug summary, because Thunderbird ortable != Thunderbird.

> Bug summary : IMAP box reloads already loaded messages

Which phenomeno do you call by "reloads".
1. Fetch header of all messages again. (auto-sync=off, or auto-sync=on/Offline-Use=Off)
2. Fetch Body of all messages to OfflineStore file by auto-sync. (Offline-Use=On)

I don't know about Thunderbird portable.
If absolute path of Tb's profile directory depends on environment where Thunderbird portable runs, same phenomenon as follows occurs.
Because [ProfD]/panacea.dat(folder cache) currently holds absolute path of file for mail box,
If profile directory is copied to different absolute path, following occurs.
absolute path of [ProfD]/ImapMail/.../Inbox.msf != absolute path for Inbox held in [ProfD]/panacea.dat
So, sync'ed state of [ProfD]/.../Ibox.msf is lost, then mail is fetched from imap server.
This is similar to or same as "first access to IMAP server".
i.e. Run Thunderbird portable in different environment
== Copy Tb's profile directory to different absolute path
+ Run Thunderbird portable using copied profile directory
Summary: IMAP box reloads already loaded messages → IMAP box reloads already loaded messages in Thunderbird Portable(not official Thunderbird)
