Steps to reproduce:

browsing with firefox, sometimes with multiple pages open, but not always.  


Actual results:

Firefox hangs at unpredictable times. I haven't been able to note any particular pattern to when this happens.  But the error report that is generated when I end Firefox through Task manager is as follows:

My browser ver is up to date -17.0.1, my os is windows xp


Expected results:

continue using Firefox without difficulty

Thanks for taking the time to report this!
Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems. It does not disable plugins which are add-ons.) See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode 

And does this also happen with a new and empty profile? See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile and http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing%20profiles . 

If you still see this problem in the new profile, please enter the address "about:support" in the address bar and attach (using the "Add an attachment" link above) the output for your original profile (not the new profile), as the "Modified Preferences" section could be interesting.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!  No, I have not tried the safe mode yet.  The lock up seems to occur intermittently and so, it is a little difficult to determine what triggers it.  But, I will try that sometime and let you know if it happens in safe mode as well.  Sometimes, if I let it sit for 10 minutes or so, the lock up with stop and Firefox will be back to working again.

Recent updates seem to have stop this from happening.
