RESOLVED WORKSFORME

People

(Reporter: kathie.hutter, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 SeaMonkey/2.15
Build ID: 20130105222038

Steps to reproduce:

I archived all folders, emptied trash and still cannot receive new mail. For months I cannot save sent messages in k.hutter888@gmail.com. I have to save those messages in another address. I uninstalled seamonkey, reinstalled it and it still will not allow new message in for k.hutter888@gmail.com.

Actual results:

absolutely NOTHING

Expected results:

new mail should have popped in. I am disgusted with the email section of this program, but I like the browser part. I have to go to the hated GOOGLE to get my messages! ! !
What happens if you right click on the folder (inbox) and select "compact folder" ?
Whiteboard: Thank you - compacting the boxes worked.

Whiteboard: Thank you - compacting the boxes worked.
FYI: Deleted emails aren't really deleted in the mailbox file on the disk.
They get only marked as deleted. Compacting the folder writes the whole file again without the deleted emails = they are now really gone.
Whiteboard: Thank you very much for that last message - now I can understand about compacting the files. I did not know that piece about getting rid of old messages. I will do so more often now.
