User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130116072953

Steps to reproduce:

Open https://www.google.com/ and make sure the instant search is activated.

Type something in, there should be a drop down list of potential keywords.
Normally, when you hit "tab", it would choose very first one, that's OK.

But, if you are going to switch to another tab by using "ctrl+tab", and when you switch back, you will find the very first keyword have been keyed in just like you hit "tab", which is unwanted.

In Chrome & IE, there is no such problem.
Break down:
1. Open google.com
2. Start typing "whop"
3. Suggestions for "whopper" will appear
4. Ctrl+tab with "whop" in search
5. Tab back to google
6. Search text is now "whopper" instead of "whop"
Old issue it seems, the same outcome in Firefox 4.0.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Component: Untriaged → Keyboard Navigation
Ever confirmed: true
The behavior of this bug changed somehow (still bugged compared to other web browsers):

Steps are same:
1. Open google.com
2. Start typing "whop"
3. Suggestions for "whopper" will appear
4. Ctrl+tab with "whop" in search

But now, "whopper" will become your search text, just like you pressed "tab", AND you didn't really get ctrl+tab'd. (slightly different from before)

And if you press ctrl+tab again you can change your tab this time.
Severity: normal → S3
