Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0
Build ID: 20130116073211

Steps to reproduce:

I lauched Firefox 18 (now 18.0.1).

Actual results:

When lauching Firefox 18, it is extremely slow until it loads the startup page. That does not happened with pre-18 versions. I've checked if it was an issue of my Internet connection or the home page (google) with other navigators such as IE. However those start and load the page quite quickly (within seconds) while Firefox 18 takes well over a minute to load the first page. Later it is fast, but loading the first page once launched takes a lot of time and I feel it is not normal.

Expected results:

Initial load of pages is very slow and should be faster in my opinion.
Thanks for taking the time to report this!
Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems. It does not disable plugins which are add-ons.) See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

And does this also happen with a new and empty profile? See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile and http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing%20profiles .

If you still see this problem in the new profile, please enter the address "about:support" in the address bar and attach (using the "Add an attachment" link above) the output for your original profile (not the new profile), as the "Modified Preferences" section could be interesting.
Thanks for your help!

Yes, it does.

I followed the procedure decribed at <http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-preferences-fix-problems> and reset Firefox to default. Now the problem has dissapeared.

I think this bug can be closed now I think, unless you need more information. Thanks for your help.
