Details

(Whiteboard: interaction [UX-P1], [TEF_REQ], PRODUCT-ANNOYING)

**DESCRIPTION**
Email account persists after it has been deleted

**PATH**
1) open email app with a single email account already associated
2) navigate to the delete email account function and select it
3) once email account is confirmed as deleted close the email app
4) re open the email app

**EXPECTED**
user will be presented with the form to associate an email account with the email app

**ACTUAL**
user briefly sees the contents of the last folder viewed before email account was deleted. This view leaves and the user is then presented with the form to associate an email account with the email app

What build/device did you use where you see this? I am unable to reproduce on an unagi with a recent build. I go right from the account settings screen with the delete button to the account setup form.

the info you require is in your inbox Andrew. I emailed you the Log Cat and Device info as usual.

after deleting the account i am also presented with the account set up form. BUT when i close the email app and reopen it again I am briefly presented with the contents of the last folder viewed before email account was deleted. This view leaves and then I am presented with the form to associate an email account with the email app...

Ah. The build id should never be sensitive, so it's best to always include it so that others can help triage, etc. From the e-mail, it is: 20130123095911

I'm of a similar mind that e-mail logcats should rarely have sensitive stuff in them, and with a little copying and pasting one can let other people like :squib have a chance at checking them out.

Aha! This is the system app. It takes a screenshot of an app after it starts up. It then shows this screenshot when it next launches the app to try and trick the user into thinking the app is starting up faster than it is. Or something like that. It really does seem counter-productive for the e-mail app because it's usually something wrong that gets displayed. Like the 'create a new account' screen when you've already set up an account.

You should probably file a bug in the system component about letting apps opt-out of that via their manifest and mark that as blocking this bug. There is currently nothing the e-mail app can do that I am aware of to stop that screenshot stuff from happening. (Although we can startup faster, obviously.)
