Attached file vp9-presentations.zip
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130218103317

Steps to reproduce:

Trying to display some PDF files with the built-in PDF viewer in Firefox 19 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

http://downloads.webmproject.org/ngov2012/pdf/02-ngov-product-requirements.pdf

http://downloads.webmproject.org/ngov2012/pdf/04-ngov-project-update.pdf

Actual results:

Rendering of the PDF hangs, either starting with the first page (02-..-requirements.pdf) or some later page (04-...-update.pdf). The whole PDF preview UI is frozen. Rest of the browser UI is unaffected, I can happily switch to another tab or close the PDF preview tab. When switching back to an affected PDF tab no redraw will happen either.

Expected results:

PDF rendered, no viewer hang.
Component: Untriaged → PDF Viewer
WFM with FF19 on Win 7, no hang/freeze.
WFM also with FF19 on Ubuntu 12.04 x86 and 12.10 x86:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Hmmm... perhaps this is dependant on the graphics driver? FWIW, on the affected machine I use integrated intel graphics (I'll upload an excerpt of the Xorg log).

During the hangs CPU usage is low, so this doesn't appear to be an issue of getting hung up in an endless loop somewhere.
A screencast of the observed behaviour is available at

http://ompldr.org/vaGoycQ/pdf-js-hang.ogv

Notice how rendering hangs whenever approaching certain parts of the document. Nonetheless, one can scroll away, resurrecting the viewer.

Please take a look at the 5MB arabic-like PDF file in the " http://www.sonymobile.com/global-zh/support/phones/xperia-neo-l/support-documents/ " and check to see why the file will get hung and be hard to change pages. This PDF file can be well viewed on Chrome. Thanks.

This file causes for me either:
 - lockup while scrolling it (can be recovered by switching to another tab and back)
 - total lockup of the affected tab (other tabs work fine, the affected one does not render, at all)
 - entire Firefox window is locked up (unresponsive, is not (re)drawn at all), other windows continue to work

FF 20 on Win 7 64 bit (where is the version string hidden these days?)
Radeon HD 6470M, driver version 8.911.4.100

The same happens with FF 20 on WinXP that I access over Remote Desktop.

This file freezes the entire Firefox process (unresponsive); I have to kill the process.

- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0
- Got the same result on safe mode
- Got the same result on a new profile

I just forgot to mention that the freeze happens always when I go from page 7 to page 8, at least for me.

Works for me with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:97.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/97.0 and with mozregression from 2013-10-07.

Can anyone reproduce it?
