Ability to download in the background

Details
The Ability to "Background" a download process in mozilla. This process would continue downloading, even when mozilla has 'quit'. (only truely quiting mozilla after download has completed). This functionality would offer the same benifits as doing a "wget http://url &" or a background ftp download. (i thought of this while trying to download Oracle 8i developers version, the full 500 megs of it :P)

How does Silent Download apply to this? My understanding was that it was server-driven, but it would be nice to get a client-driven analogue. Is that what is desired here?

This isn't ftp per se. -> xpapps for initial triage, but since necko isn't threadsafe, I'm not really sure how you'd do so.

spam: over to File Handling. i have not changed the assigned developer [or the other fields for that matter], so if anyone realizes that a bug should have a more appropriate owner, go ahead and change it. :)
