What feature should be changed? Please provide the URL of the feature if possible.

The dev-mdc@ link that appears in the footer of every page, currently with the text "Join our mailing list."

What problems would this solve?

Many people are using this mailing list to ask about the content itself, when those questions would probably be better for a community like Stack Overflow or the (forthcoming) community tools we plan to build into MDN.

Who would use this?
===================
At the moment, it seems that people looking for help interact with this section the most.

What would users see?
=====================
We should change the text to something more clear, such as "Join our [mailing list about writing documentation] to help us improve our content."

What would users do? What would happen as a result?
===================================================
The goal here is for users to understand exactly what the mailing list is for before signing up. Putting this explanation directly in the link should help with that.

Is there anything else we should know?
======================================
Not exactly sure what the text should be (see two questions up). Open to other thoughts.

I suggest changing that whole line of text, since the first sentence is kind of outdated:

Is MDN helpful to you? Please [share your feedback] with us. Or join our [mailing list about improving MDN content].

Good point. I would be willing to get rid of the [share your feedback] link altogether, since we no longer use UserVoice and it might not make sense to link people to Bugzilla, especially since it looks odd if viewed while not logged in. Welcome to other ideas.

Actually, the feedback link now points to this page: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Project:Feedback

to which I just added a link to the mailing list.

Oh awesome. Yeah, I that works. So unless there are any objections, I will be sure we go with comment 1, with link #1 pointing to Project:Feedback and link #2 pointing to the mailing list.
