:jbuck 's reference app ( https://github.com/jbuck/miu ) uses an NPM module called "habitat" for managing environment variables, and it does a great job. The SSO module should leverage this.

I just noticed that habitat is being used in the SSO module already... I'm gonna see if its a good implementation.

There are a couple of other places in the code this could be implemented, but the payoffs aren't high enough.
