It might make sense to revisit the "book with an X on it" treatment for pages in Reader Mode. Especially since long pressing the icon will now add the page to the user's reading list (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=784387#c29)

The bug should be a simple image swap, assigning to myself so I don't forget.

Instead of a button that communicates "exit", let's treat this icon more like a toggle where it is grey when it is off, and orange when it is on.
