Mac OS X, vpn proxy setting does not affect firefox use system settings

Steps to reproduce:

have a PPTP VPN profile that sets an autoproxy, connected to VPN, 
OS X 10.8.3+ same problem exists.



Actual results:

firefox could not connect to any websites internal or external, tried restarting.
if i manually tell it to use the same proxy set in the VPN config, it connects to websites fine.
Safari works with no extra help.


Expected results:

it should pay attn to the proxy settings.
