I'm running our tests on an automation test slave and occasionally seeing a timeout in this wait statement. Since it doesn't have a timeout it can hang test runs for a while. http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/annotate/b842d26dd5f0/browser/metro/base/tests/mochitest/browser_topsites.js#l130

I don't think this was a problem with your tests. For some reason the start page wasn't loading occasionally.
