From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.1+) Gecko/20010622
BuildID: 2001062211

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the URL in Mozilla.
2. Load the URL in NS4.x.
3. Compare the two layouts.
It appears <multicol> is simply ignored. See the http://people.netscape.com/
site linked above, or it you have a slashdot account you can try
http://slashdot.org/users.pl?op=edithome

This may be a candidate for the war room. It certainly makes these two pages
hard to use, but I don't know how common the problem is on other sites.
Summary: Layout difference on <multicol> tags → <multicol> tags ignored
MULTICOL is one of our old NS tags. You won't find MULTICOL in the HTML 3.2 or
4.0 spec.
There are sites which rely on it and are broken without it. Which is easier,
support it in quirks mode or evangelize the sites to switch to alternatives?
Dunno, that's why I cc'd chrisn for war room consideration. (But it's a shame
our own netscape.com is broken in this way. And the high geek-traffic
Slashdot. How many others?)
Can someone please attach a description of multicol?
http://developer.netscape.com/docs/manuals/htmlguid/tags15.htm#1077197

example with percentage widths which nevertheless works despite the above:
http://www.utoronto.ca/webdocs/HTMLdocs/NewHTML/multicol.html

Compare people.netscape.com using Communicator and Mozilla.
I'm sure this is lower priority than many other compliance issues. IE does not
support this tag either so I doubt it's used lots of places. But it is used in
some.
It is unlikely that we will ever support this. people.netsape.com should be
changed. Marking later.
