Should we preload some of the top 10 site thumbnails for the Firefox Start page that use https?

We have a really cool start page, but currently everyone's view of the start page that uses twitter, gmail, facebook, bing... will be a bit crappy with a solid block color for those top sites.

Or maybe we need to be less restrictive about when we generate thumbnail snapshots. Ally mentioned a generate snapshots for https pref. I think we should only be using the no-cache Cache-Control http header?

Another solution would be to grab screenshots using a background request without cookies, as desktop Firefox will do (bug 841495).

This is already fixed (bug 849819).

FWIW this is pretty much what desktop's going to do in bug 870100 as a first start. Can we un-fork thumbnailing in the near term?
Why is this marked as a defect? Technically it's a new feature request.

I don't have the original story handy, but probably because the original story just said to present thumbnails and in some cases we're not showing them when we could by sending a request without cookies.

The whole Defect vs Change things is sometimes subjective though so I don't give too much weight to it.
