Gecko http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18/rev/fad8ae06867b Gaia e1c59baed29e4665d1da9392f86239272073f07a BuildID 20130530230210 Version 18.0 That looks like a recent regression. Whenever I move away the phone from my ears during an active call the screen does not turn on again. You will have to manually press the on button. Whenever the caller moves away the phone we really should turn on the screen again. The current behavior is awkward and blocks you e.g. when you have to enter some digits while being routed through a telephone system.

(In reply to Tony Chung [:tchung] from comment #6) > Jeni, can you try again on the Leo? i believe you guys got the Leo builds > working now as of late yesterday. Yes we got a working build for receiving phone calls. Unable to repro on Leo Build ID: 20130605070207 Gecko: http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18/rev/09dc1ae3b1b5 Gaia: 92a6e36957145cdb2ac8867e5cdba8ecf12308fc Platform Version: 18.0 After removing phone from ear, while on a call, the screen lights up to let you know what state you are in.

Not sure how you tested this but when I checked a Leo device on Friday I have not seen that the screen got (black) dimmed at all during a call while having the phone on the ear. The screen turns off after a minute (if it has been set in display settings) but also in such a case you have to press the hardware button to turn it on again. The phone does not react on any kind of movement. Also I'm not sure if it has a light or distance sensor at all. I still see this bug with the latest rev of B2G on Unagi.

If this doesn't repro on Leo device but only on Unagi, it's not a blocker.

Lukas, as said above the situation is not clear. Has the Leo device a motion and light sensor? It seems that this issue depends on one or both sensors.

This seems to work now again with the following build: Gecko http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-b2g18/rev/537f3eac4c48 Gaia 0c836be7f24693b74ad7fd21c8153824f1c7f548 BuildID 20130613230207 Version 18.0 Daniel, I know that you have seen this issue too. Is it also fixed for you?

Whimboo says in IRC that he's on the nightly channel. I'm on beta, so if it just became fixed for him, it'll likely not be fixed for me for a few days. (I don't have a SIM in my unagi at the moment, so I can't actually test, but I'll hopefully give it a try later today.)

I'm still hitting this with an unagi "nightly 1.1 build" that I just downloaded: { Platform version: 18.1 Build Identifier: 20130614070213 Update channel: unagi/1.1.0/beta Git commit info: 2013-06-14 10:43:06 ba4c37... }

... though I only hit it sporadically, and I seem to hit it more reliably if I cover the proximity sensor (hold my hand over the top of the phone) for a few seconds at least. (If I just cover the sensor very briefly -- releasing it immediately when the screen turns off -- then the screen comes back on as I'd expect.)

You are right. I moved my phone away from the ears after 1s or so. Holding it longer at the ears and removing it, the screen still doesn't get turned on.
