Can you please try with a new profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles) and in safe mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode) and report back whether it is still reproducing?

A new profile solves the problem. So what is going wrong?

Do you have any add-ons installed? One of them or some changed preferences may cause the delay.

Alright. It is a problem with Adblock 2.2.4 and Ghostery 2.9.5. Removing a single addon does not work - both are causing a huge delay.
I think this bug can be closed, right? (How do I do that? :) )
Thanks for your help!
