884016 - MDN email is not accepted by Persona

What did you do?

1. Signed up on MDN with this email address
2. Tried to sign up for same email with Persona

What happened?
==============
Persona refused to allow signing up, stating "Error: Invalid email" (presumably since my email contains consecutive dots)

What should have happened?
==========================
MDN and Persona should have used the same method of email validation

Is there anything else we should know?

Persona accepts the email with only one dot.

Hey Mathnerd.

I am not sure I understand the issue. What should MDN have done differently? Keep in mind that you never need to enter your email address on MDN.

According to the "Forgot your email?" on https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/users/browserid_register, my account (Mathnerd314) has this email address, with the triple dots. Unfortunately, Persona rejects that email address as invalid. So currently it's impossible for me to log in to my account.

MDN should let me log in, somehow.

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

No other users have mentioned this issue, so I do not think it would make sense for us to build a separate login method just for these types of email addresses.

But I can still help you get into your account. Is there another email address you would be able to log in with -- one that Persona would support?
