This is mostly a discussion about the future of the (supposedly) temporary youtube activity in the Video app and how to make it the best experience for users and developers.

Partner Engineering currently recommends partners to use WebActivities to trigger Youtube video playback.

Video playback is limited to non-restricted content, so most ad-supported content like music videos won't play.

The Youtube app could implement the same WebActivity to allow playback in the native Youtube experiments for all content.
Youzeek is an almost 100% Youtube content based app, and they run into issues with restricted apps.
The video/youtube WebActivity got removed for 1.2 per bug 891929.

a) we need to work with partners that use WebActivities to remove them or put them behind feature detection after 1.1 shipped.

b) Donovan, can we work with youtube to add web activities to their app? Do you see the benefits, would that make sense?

I think we should ask partners that currently use a WebActivity to launch a youtube video to use the normal html5 embedding stuff instead. I just tested and the regular youtube embed iframe works fine.

The YouTube playing is handled by the video element. This bug doesn't exist.
